Strategic transition from government to commercial

This information business faced a radical change programme from a government agency into a self-financing commercial organisation at the forefront of the e-business revolution. AshtonPenney Interim has provided senior interim executives in brand marketing and business development to implement the strategies and processes underpinning the business transformation. These assignments have implemented new product launches, pricing and licensing policies, the creation of new B2B partnerships, CRM strategies, and programmes to help its business partners develop new location based data applications. The organisation now serves as a model for effectively harnessing new technology: the provision of electronic data now accounts for c 80% of turnover and underpins an estimated £100bn of economic activity nationally.

Programme Management

An executive agency supporting sought an interim Programme Manager to design and implement a new Programme Office with national coverage and accountability for monitoring over 40 programmes and their impact on other central departments. The role called for outstanding technical and interpersonal skills to ensure the rigour around programme monitoring, and highly visible and effective communications with key stakeholders. The chosen candidate from AshtonPenney Interim had the central and local government experience, the skills and personal stature to match the demands and sensitivities of this highly visible change programme.

Developing partnership agreements

A Government Agency embarked on a drive to recruit strategic partners in the technology sector and required an interim Head of Partner Programme to lead and manage this campaign. AshtonPenney Interim provided an experienced Commercial Projects and Change Management specialist who recruited and led a team of 20, developed the new sales channel strategy, and led the negotiations with key customers.  The 9 month project achieved a 25% sales growth.

Enterprise and innovation programmes

The 9 Regional Development Agencies have played a valuable role in the economic development of the English regions. When an RDA required an Interim Business Development Director to launch a new company, jointly owned by the RDA and its Local Authority partners, we sourced an interim executive with a pedigree as CEO of a PPP responsible for economic regeneration in 6 local authorities in London. His achievements included developing the new brand and website, launching the international marketing strategy, creating the Inward Investment organisation and being responsible for the Cluster Strategy.
